 Dr. Ilana Cohen was born in Tel-Aviv, Israel.

From the age of 10 she was a piano student of Prof. Leo Kestenberg, a student of the Italian composer Ferruccio Busoni.

She completed her bachelor’s degree at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music, majoring in piano performance.

Cohen completed her master’s degree in Musicology at Tel Aviv University. Her class was the first to graduate from the musicology program.

After studying with Prof. Dora Zaslavsky at the Manhattan School of Music in New York, she received a doctor’s degree in Psychotherapy and the Arts from the Union for Experimenting Colleges and Universities in Ohio.

As a concert pianist, Dr. Cohen performed a full recital for Kol Israel radio station. She also performed as a soloist with the Kol Israel Orchestra at the YMCA hall in Jerusalem, and at the age of 16 she played the Grieg piano concerto with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

Dr. Cohen is the chairperson of the Zfunot Tarbut Organization, founded by her in 1997. Zfunot Tarbut is an organization dedicated to the encouragement and financial support of young Israeli musicians.
