Ruth Maayani  
Ruth Maayani is principal harpist with the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon Lezion, which is also the orchestra of the New Israeli Opera. A native of Tel Aviv, Ruth Maayani played with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 17. Later, after having studied with Marcel Grandjany, she graduated from the Juilliard School of Music. In addition, she holds a B.A. in philosophy from the Tel Aviv University.

She has given many world premieres of Israeli compositions, among them, the Concertino for Harp and Strings by Ami Maayani. Ms. Maayani has also performed as soloist with orchestras and in chamber music concerts in the US, Europe and Israel. Since 1988, she has been the harp professor at the Samuel Rubin Academy of Music at Tel Aviv University, recently renamed Buchmann – Mehta School of Music.

Her recordings include a CD of Harp Trios, featuring alongside original pieces the Ami Maayani harp transcription of Beethoven's Serenade op, 25, "Reflections", an LP of flute and harp music with flutist Samuel Baron, and three CDs of Ami Maayani's harp chamber music, harp concerti and song cycles for voice and harp.

In December 2008, Ms. Maayani has performed with her daughter, violinist Sivann Maayani Zelikoff, the world premiere of a new work by Ami Maayani, Partita en Mode Phrygienne pour violon et harpe(2008). It has been broadcast live on radio from an "Etnahta" series concert performed by mother and daughter at the Henry Crown Hall, Jerusalem
